A vast curriculum to learn from.
Although we have adopted the National Curriculum, we are not totally bound by it, so have the freedom to introduce a wide range of subjects.
In Preparatory School, each pupil is provided with their own personal laptop device for use in school and at home. Pupils use a number of learning applications to support and enhance their education, such as Century Tech, Times Tables Rock Stars Learning by Questions and Languagenut.
A More Able and Talented provision within the school includes setting in Maths, differentiated lessons and extension extra-curricular activities to further develop an enquiring mind.
Excellent teaching methods.
To give a strong sense of continuity and develop good education bonds, Years 3 and 4 children are primarily taught by their form teacher. For subjects such as PE, Language, Music and Drama we have specialist teachers, and this is extended to other subjects in Years 5 and 6. It means children are taught by someone who is advanced in their knowledge about their subject and can therefore convey their enthusiasm and technical understanding to the class.
To provide an outlet for developing performing skills there are concerts and drama performances at all ages of the school. This includes separate Preparatory School productions for Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6, with many other opportunities to perform on the stage in assemblies and at special events.
The main foreign languages taught in Preparatory School are French and Spanish.
