Sport & Competition

Highlighting the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

At Huddersfield Grammar School we believe that a varied PE curriculum and co-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all of our children.

We want pupils to participate in sports for life, but while at school to be challenged and supported to perform to the very best of their abilities.

competition

A network of competition opportunities.

As a school, we compete in internal house competitions and away fixtures to reinforce a positive culture.

We are members of Kirklees Sports Network and the ISA (Independent School Association), which opens us up to a network of competition opportunities and tournaments up to a National level. We fully immerse ourselves into this to give our pupils as much exposure and opportunity in various sports.

We enjoy competitive fixtures against other schools in the following sports:

  • Athletics

  • Basketball

  • Cross Country

  • Football

  • Hockey

  • Netball

  • Rounders

  • Swimming

SPORTS AWARDS

Celebrating sporting achievements.

During the Summer term, we join to celebrate a variety of pupils at our annual Sports Award Evening. This event is hosted by an inspirational sports personality and recognises outstanding sporting achievements.

A range of awards and trophies are presented to those who have demonstrated sporting excellence throughout the academic year, including the Tess Wilkinson Cup for outstanding sporting achievement and Team of the Year.

My son has enjoyed attending the school, has found teachers friendly and approachable and feels proud to be attending Huddersfield Grammar School.
