Encouraging expression through creativity.
At Huddersfield Grammar School, we aim to spark creative imagination and to make the very most of our pupils’ artistic talent and potential. Across Drama, Dance, Music, Creative Writing and Art & Design we offer pupils the opportunity to pursue their cultural passions both within the academic curriculum and, more importantly, through our range of extra-curricular activities.
Whether they are budding actors, singer-songwriters, designers, musicians, authors, poets, singers or dancers, all our pupils are encouraged to engage so they can discover what inspires them within the Arts.
Every year we hold a variety of performance opportunities and promote entry to National Competitions for our pupils to showcase their flair.

ART
Art is important in our curriculum.
Our pupils are encouraged to develop a passion for art. Being placed in a creative and inspiring atmosphere to make independent decisions and be brave in exhibiting their creations from an early age. We provide a variety of opportunities for pupils to display their work both through exhibitions within the calendar year and also in National competitions.
We are proud advocates of the immense benefits of the creative arts, Fine Art is offered at GCSE and here pupils get the chance to explore the whole plethora of art forms from photography, and sculpture to more traditional mediums.
MUSIC
Enhancing the curriculum with music.
Whether interpreting, composing or performing music, we value how music educates and inspires children. It is essential to their cognitive development and it offers a creative outlet that is so valuable in a busy school day. All our children are encouraged to participate in music making, be it singing in one of the choirs, a rock group or a musical performance in one of our tea-time concerts.
With a variety of co-curricular clubs to entice a budding musician, it can lead to anything. We have had children perform at the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London.
